Christmas will come early for the men and women of the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the early release of bonus and cash gifts.

The PNP on Wednesday said a total of 227,693 active personnel will receive their year-end bonus (YEB) amounting to PHP8.7 billion, while 2,807 retirees are set to receive PHP92.8 million tentatively on Nov. 13.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) earlier confirmed that the YEB, equivalent to one month’s basic pay, together with a PHP5,000 cash gift, will be released with the first agency payroll of November 2025.

Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. hailed the initiative as a timely recognition of the diligence and commitment shown by the police force throughout the year.

“We sincerely thank President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for prioritizing the welfare of our police personnel and retirees. This timely release of the Year-End Bonus and cash gift is a meaningful recognition of the dedication and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform who continue to serve the Filipino people with honor and integrity,” he said in a statement.

Nartatez said this financial incentive is a direct investment in police morale and capability.

For his part, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the early release underscores the government’s appreciation for their relentless service.

“We encourage everyone to use this bonus wisely and continue their commitment to the safety and security of our communities,” Tuaño added.

Under DBM rules, all government personnel — whether regular, contractual, casual, part-time, or full-time — who have rendered at least four months of service from Jan. 1, 2025, and are still in service as of Oct. 31, 2025, are entitled to the YEB and cash gift. (PNA)
