The Commission on Elections in Davao Region (Comelec-11) reported on Monday that it processed a total of 343,239 voter applications from Feb. 12 to Sept. 7, 2024.

In an interview, Gay Enumerables, assistant regional director for Comelec-11, said the applications included new registrations, transfers, corrections, and reactivations.

Of the total, 107,382 applications were completed in this city, followed by Davao del Norte with 77,544, Davao de Oro with 56,740, Davao Oriental with 53,238, Davao del Sur with 30,493, and Davao Occidental with 17,842.

“Our election officers made efforts to reach far-flung areas, conducting information dissemination and setting up satellite registration sites in various barangays, particularly in Davao City,” Enumerables said. “Provincial offices took similar initiatives to cover all barangays in the region.”

She noted that Comelec-11 participated in caravans aimed at boosting satellite registrations, which helped achieve the strong voter turnout.

“Barangay satellite offices worked closely with our election officers, providing ample space such as gymnasiums for the registration process,” she added.

Enumerables encouraged Davao residents to register at satellite stations or Comelec offices before the Sept. 30 deadline for reactivation or correction of voter registration.

Applicants are advised to bring completed forms and present a valid government-issued identification card when registering at the satellite sites. (PNA)
