Facebook Gaming and Bandai Namco announced on Monday, December 6 the launch of PAC-MAN COMMUNITY, a classic game to be played in a new way that aims to connect players and gaming creators.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, which was recently rebranded to Meta, posted a video of Pac-Man Community to his Facebook page earlier this week.

“Gaming is a big part of the metaverse, and I’m looking forward to seeing games like this get more interactive and immersive,” Zuckerberg posted together with a PAC-MAN game video.

Facebook’s PAC-MAN is playable with up to three friends, which requires them to work together to finish mazes while competing for the greatest score.

Viewers may watch streamers play the game and pick sides in what Facebook describes as an “interactive PAC-MAN watch party” under the game’s Watch mode.

There’s also the option of playing with a Streamer, which allows viewers to enter immediately into a game with a single button press. Last but not least, there is a Maze Creator feature that allows gamers to make their own maps.

PAC-MAN COMMUNITY appears to be a creative attempt to reimagine the arcade classic while remaining true to the gameplay that has made PAC-MAN so popular.

The blend of co-op and competitive gameplay sounds comparable to Super Mario 3D World, and it may be a lot of fun for people who aren’t interested in the game’s streaming feature.

It’s also completely free to play and can be accessed from a variety of devices without the need to download anything. Of course, gamers who are less interested in these modern components can enjoy an old-school experience with PAC-MAN COMMUNITY, which includes the original arcade game.

Bandai Namco has come up with a variety of new methods to keep the traditional formula fresh throughout the years, and PAC-MAN COMMUNITY appears to be another one of them. The game is already being marketed as a “bridge to the metaverse” by Facebook, and the company has enormous ambitions to expand the game’s offerings throughout next year.

PAC-MAN COMMUNITY appears to be a key component of Facebook’s long-term goals and it will be fascinating to see if this new community succeeds in gaining a following.
