Filipinos in Malaysia packed the iconic Kompleks Kraf recently to join the Christmas festivities especially mounted for the community. The Philippine Embassy and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration brings anew the Pamaskong Kat-OWWA-an (Christmas Merriment) to enliven the spirits of those who are not able to come home and be with their families during the holidays.

A notable addition for this year’s celebrations is the “Kapamilya Love Weekend Goes to Asia” – a campaign that goes around the continent offering free services and entertainment to overseas Filipinos. TFC in partnership with DZMM Teleradyo gifted nearly 1,200 hardworking Pinoys – who are usually on the other end of offering their services – with a free massage, haircut, Zumba session, as well as medical and skincare advice from Dra. Bles Salvador of the DZMM program “Dra. Bles @ Ur Serbis” and Dra. Luisa Ticzon-Puyat of the DZMM program “Good Vibes”.

A highlight of the public service segment of the program was the livelihood seminar from Dr. Carl Balita of DZMM’s “Radyo Negosyo” (Business Radio), followed by a Q&A. The symposium captured nearly a thousand attendees eager to learn more practical tips on investments, business start-ups, and overall financial freedom.

The latter part of the day showcased local talents, as well as Kapamilya stars Lassy and Marlo Mortel who were both welcomed by the crowd with cheers, laughter, and embrace for the few lucky ones.

“In 2019, serving hundreds of thousands of overseas Filipinos has become one of the six pillars of ABS-CBN’s Integrated Public Service Agenda. TFC is committed to being more present here in Malaysia through our content that is more accessible than ever and experiences in the form of public service and entertainment,” said ABS-CBN Global Managing Director for the Asia Pacific Maribel Hernaez. She expresses the organization’s gratitude over the warm reception from the Filipinos in the country, while also commending the support of organizations such as the Federation of Filipino Associations in Malaysia (FFAM) in upkeeping the many initiatives of the Embassy for the community.

The “Pamaskong Kat-OWWA-an” was graced by His Excellency Ambassador Charles Jose, Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis, Labor Attaché Johnson Canete, Welfare Officer Leonor Mabagal, officers of the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia and POLO-OWWA, and ABS-CBN Global Chief Operating Officer Olivia De Jesus.

The “Kapamilya Love Weekend to Asia” is in celebration of ABS-CBN’s 65th anniversary and TFC’s 25 years. The campaign targets to reach 65 barangays all over the Philippines, and this final quarter of 2019, TFC has brought Kapamilya Love Weekend abroad – it’s first stop was in Singapore last October. It is set to continue until the second quarter of 2020.
