Filipino box office filmmaker and writer Chito S. Roño will be the official director of the most anticipated television series, ‘Darna’ starring Jane de Leon as the main lead.
ABS-CBN posted on Instagram the announcement that Roño will take over the spot as director after direct Erik Matti and Jerrold Tarog dropped the offer due to personal conflicts.

“Highly-acclaimed box office Director Chito S. Roño is officially taking helm in the much-awaited television adaptation of the Philippines’ iconic superheroine in Darna: The TV Series,” stated in the post.
Roño is one of the respectable and notable directors in the film industry and had successfully produced several Filipino movies that left a big mark in the public. He directed the films “Imortal,” “Lastikman” and “Spirits,” as well as the hit movies “Feng Shui,” “The Ghost Bride,” “Dekada ‘70” and “Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa?”
After almost a decade of missing the spotlight, Roño is finally coming back to lead one of ABS CBN’s biggest projects for 2022. According to the network, the said series is set to start taping in early November.
Jane de Leon will be the female lead and portray the character of Darna. She shared some of her fitness journeys in her Instagram account in preparation for the upcoming TV Series.
