A model family from Central Visayas was awarded the best audio-visual presentation on its experience as beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during the recent 4Ps National Family Congress in Manila.
Tonyson Luther Lee, assistant regional director for administration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Central Visayas, said on Friday the Fortuito family of Sibulan, Negros Oriental bagged the Best Salaysay ng Buhay Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP).
The Fortuito family presented how its strong ties impact on communities amid challenges caused by poverty.
“We congratulate the Fortuito family for making us in DSWD-7 regional field office and the 4Ps beneficiaries proud,” he said.
The Fortuito family is Central Visayas’ Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya 2024 winner, representing over 75,000 4Ps families in the region during the national congress in Manila on Oct. 27 to 30.
The congress was in line with the 4Ps’ annual celebration of National Family Week, which recognizes model families who maintain values despite hardships.
DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian awarded the 16 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya regional winners, including the Fortuito family, with a plaque and a cash incentive worth PHP10,000 each.
The 4Ps is the government’s major poverty alleviation program, which invests in the health, nutrition, and education of poor households.
Together with the psychosocial and educational components provided through the Family Development Session, the beneficiaries will have improved and sustained well-being.
The program was institutionalized in 2019 by Republic Act 11310 or the 4Ps Act. (PNA)
