Over PHP126 million has been allocated for infrastructure projects aimed at boosting tourism in Bantayan Island and various towns across two districts in Cebu province, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced Monday.
Garcia said PHP24 million in funds were turned over to the mayors of the towns of Santa Fe, Bantayan, and Madridejos, with each mayor receiving P5 million, and the vice mayors of these towns each receiving P3 million.
âThese funds are intended for their infrastructure projects of their choice,â Garcia said.
In addition, Garcia reported that seven local government units (LGUs) in Cebuâs third district received a total of PHP54 million.
The city of Toledo and the towns of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan each received PHP8 million, with PHP5 million allocated for the mayorâs infrastructure project and PHP3 million for the vice mayorâs office.
The town of Barili received PHP6 million, with PHP5 million for Mayor John-John Garciaâs infrastructure project and PHP1 million for Vice Mayor Luisito Ponsicaâs office.
In the fourth district, the six LGUsâMedellin, San Remigio, Daanbantayan, and the City of Bogoâeach received PHP8 million for infrastructure projects.
The town of Tabogon also received PHP8 million for infrastructure, along with an additional PHP3.25 million in financial assistance for the townâs Sanggi Festival.
âThese funds are subject to the auditing requirements of the Commission on Audit,â Garcia reminded the recipients. (PNA)
