G-SHOCK officially marked a bold new chapter with the successful global launch of the GA-V01 at the Atmos Flagship Store in BGC last June 13, drawing in media and style insiders for an exclusive first look at the future of the brand. GA-V01 Concept

At the heart of the GA-V01 concept is the story of the father of G-SHOCK, Mr. Kikuo Ibe, who set out to create an unbreakable watch, tirelessly testing the prototype by dropping it from the lab window at the Hamura R&D laboratory. This legendary act led to the birth of the first-ever G-SHOCK in 1983, along with the enduring legacy of his “Never Give Up” spirit. That same determination continues to inspire the team, including GA-V01’s designer, Mr. Tomohiro Hamaue, who brings it to life with his interpretation of G-SHOCK’s core identities – toughness and its status as the one and only unbreakable watch.

Brand New Construction and Design

The GA-V01 marks a new chapter for G-SHOCK with an entirely fresh approach to construction and design. Featuring an organic exterior form with an integrated bezel and band, the watch incorporates bumper-type indexes and side buttons that express powerful strength through sharply defined edges. Its oversized design extends over the spherical glass, which houses an analog-digital combination display that integrates a layered metallic dial with openwork and a full-screen LCD. It achieves an extraordinary blend of functionality and futuristic design.

The GA-V01’s design boldly subverts past forms. The watch features a visually striking large dial, embodying strong futurism and a sense of technology. The dial display is exaggerated in the shape of a butterfly, with circular magnetic hands, integrating Y3K aesthetics into the timepiece.
