The Camiguin provincial government launched a Wellness of Mother and Baby program Thursday to provide preventive care and basic needs for resident mothers and their children.

Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo said the “Womb” program aims to encourage prenatal checkups for safe pregnancies and healthy infants.

“We also want to encourage our pregnant mothers to always go for check-ups to ensure a safe pregnancy and healthy infants,” Romualdo said in an interview.

The program distributed newborn clothing sets, baby supplies and strollers to 48 pregnant mothers and recent mothers who completed the required eight prenatal checkups.

Since 2022, the province has supported maternal and child health, building on the national Department of Health’s Safe Motherhood Program. (PNA)
