Some residents of Camaries Sur province from the indigenous peoples, marginalized, and vulnerable workers sectors received PHP773,000 worth of livelihood assistance from the government through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Bicol.

In an interview, Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-Bicol spokesperson, said they released starter kits under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program to 44 beneficiaries from three upland barangays in Libmanan town.

“The starter kits are for carpentry. After the distribution of the kits, the beneficiaries also attended social training with topics on business operations. It also helped them to learn with the proper knowledge to improve their livelihood,” she said.

Gasga said the starter kits aim to reduce unemployment and promote social sustainability and economic growth in the localities.

DOLE-Bicol Regional Director Imelda Gatinao assured that DOLE will remain committed to its mission of promoting growth, social justice, and economic empowerment for all.

“To our beneficiaries, I congratulate you on receiving these starter kits. But more than the tools, I encourage you to value the training and guidance that come with it. This is your opportunity to rise above your current circumstances and create a better life for yourselves and your families. Use these resources wisely, for they have the potential to transform not just your income but your future,” Gatinao said in a statement.

Nolito Decin, 53, a beneficiary from Barangay Cawayan, Libmanan, thanked the government for the assistance.

“Thank you very much, DOLE, for reaching our upland barangay, and we’re able to receive assistance that we can use for our livelihood. This is a big help for us; thank you again,” he said. (PNA)
