The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has opened a new satellite office in the island of Siargao in Surigao del Norte province, to serve more foreign tourists in the area considered among the country’s key tourism destinations.

Commissioner Norman Tansingco led the inauguration of the new office on Tuesday in Purok 1 Poblacion in General Luna town.

“The establishment of this office in Siargao is part of our commitment to ensuring that foreign nationals have easy access to immigration services, especially in popular tourist destinations like Siargao,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

He said foreigners visiting the island would be able to facilitate visa extensions and other essential immigration services at the new office, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.

The move also supports the Department of Tourism’s efforts to lure more foreign visitors by providing efficient and accessible immigration services to tourists and expatriates in key tourist destinations, he added.

Siargao, known as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines”, is frequented by tourists from around the world for its stunning beaches and world-class surfing spots. (PNA)
