R&B and reggae artist Bugoy Drilon pairs up for the first time with island pop producer Moophs for a venture into the lovers rock genre with the song “Tied.”
The sunny reggae track, newly released under Tarsier Records, depicts a one-sided love that is left with hope for a new day fused with an infectious melody.
“‘Tied’ was inspired by an online love story of two people apart. Sadly, the relationship didn’t work out as expected,” Bugoy shared.
“Being ‘tied’ describes exactly how it feels when someone you made memories and shared moments with suddenly becomes a stranger. You feel tied to those memories but you have to respect the distance they need,” he added.
Meanwhile, Moophs revealed that the song, which he refers to as having a ‘healing energy,’ was inspired by his recent collaboration with two-time Grammy nominee reggae producer, Leslie “Bimwala” Ludiazo.
The music producer also shared his excitement in working with Bugoy for the first time. Working with Bugoy Drilon was amazing! I’m such a fan. He’s one of the most talented singers to ever step into my studio,” he said.
A futuristic “Tied” music video about love that cannot be is also coming soon on Tarsier Records’ YouTube channel.
Bugoy has previously lent his voice to hit OPM love songs “Paano Na Kaya”, “Muli”, and “Hindi Na Bale.” His cover of Matisyahu’s “One Day” now has over 114M plays on YouTube and is loved by fans across the world.
Moophs recently produced Tarsier Records’ biggest international collaboration release to date, “RISE,” with Eric Bellinger, Inigo Pascual, Sam Concepcion, Zee Avi, and Vince Nantes in 2020. His collab with Inigo Pascual, the dancehall-afrobeat-inspired pop track “Always,” has made it to Apple Music’s “The 100 Best Songs of 2020.”
