Personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Brooke’s Point District Jail conducted a coastal clean-up drive at Balacan Shore in Barangay Pangobilian here on Wednesday as part of efforts to promote environmental protection and community engagement.

During the activity, BJMP personnel collected various types of coastal waste, including plastic debris, bottles, and discarded fishing nets scattered along the shoreline.

BJMP Mimaropa spokesperson Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said the initiative aims to raise environmental awareness, help protect marine ecosystems, and support the government’s advocacy for clean and sustainable coastal areas.

“The clean-up drive reflects BJMP’s commitment not only to jail management but also to responsible stewardship of the environment and active participation in community-building activities,” Anglo said.

He added that such initiatives contribute to preserving marine life and encouraging collective responsibility in safeguarding natural resources.

Through the activity, the BJMP Brooke’s Point District Jail reaffirmed its support for environmental sustainability and its role in promoting cooperation among government institutions and local communities to protect the environment for present and future generations. (PNA)
