“Carpioman” will be an original Filipino tokusatsu series coming out in 2021.
Filipino filmmakers and animators are not new in producing tokusatsu, a Japanese based-genre in live-action series with heavy special effects in films and television. From directors, Miko Livelo, Mihk Vergara, and Chris Cantada, digital creator and cosplayer, have put together their efforts to produce a different level of legend revamped for ‘90s sentai fans.
Bernardo Carpio or “Carpioman” is a digital series that portrays isn’t just a typical strong man of Montalban, but a giant archipelago defender who has exemplary character qualities. Jerald Napoles as Carpioman is a single father who is cursed with superpowers and struggles to raise his daughter who expects him to be his superhero.
From the makers of “Bluebustamante” and “Patintero,” “Carpioman” is another sci-fi Filipino stans that would bring its viewer an overall nostalgic scene as Power Rangers, Super Noypi, and Zaido.
The teaser was released on December 26. You can watch the one-minute and forty-six-second teaser at Chris Cantada Force on Youtube. The official launching of the series has not yet been disclosed.
