From streaming recognitions, and staging concerts to bagging the top honors at the 34th Awit Awards— the country’s version of Grammys and the successful collaborations with National Geographic and Jollibee, Ben&Ben is indeed marking this year’s record-breaking achievements in the country’s music industry.

Thanks to the popularity of their sophomore album, Pebble House Vol. 2, the nine-piece collective was named the Philippines’ most-streamed OPM Artist and Group of 2021 for the second year in a row. Kuwaderno is the first name that comes to mind.

Ben&Ben have gathered nearly 300 million listens in 170 countries, according to Spotify Wrapped, the platform’s annual summary of 2021’s best hits, setting a new record for the folk-pop group.

The acclaimed band just holds the award prize at the 34th Awit Awards—the country’s version of the Grammys—on top of the streaming accolades.

For their chart-topping song “Di Ka Sayang,” Ben&Ben received awards in four key categories, including Most Streamed Artist, Record of the Year, and Best Inspirational Recording, as well as Best Ballad Recording for “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay.”

Ben&Ben made headlines a few days ago for their advocacy activities, particularly for giving their song “Kayumanggi” to a music video campaign supporting La Union’s coastal towns.

The initiative, which was led by Emerging Islands, a coastal-based arts organization, and National Geographic, highlighted the cultural diversity and geographical splendor of Bangar and Bauang, San Juan, as well as the hardworking people who live there.

Their hit tune “Pasalubong,” a collaboration with Moira, was utilized as the theme song for the John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo reunion film One True Pair, which premiered on Jollibee’s official YouTube on December 1, 2021.

The band released a statement and said, “Sulit lahat ng dugo’t pawis namin dito, Liwanag dahil para sa’min, kayo ang aming dahilan. Patuloy kaming magsusulat ng mga awiting mula sa buhay namin, para Samahan kayo sa iba’t iba mong karanasan sa buhay. Kayo ang aming Liwanag. We’re with you in your journey, in your failures, and in your success.”
