The families of overseas Bangsamoro workers (OBWs) who died while working abroad received financial grants from the Ministry of Labor and Employment in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Twenty beneficiaries received grants through the Social Benefits Program (SBP) during the distribution at the MOLE regional office inside the Bangsamoro government center here, according to a news release Monday night.

“Among the recipients were seven immediate relatives of deceased OBWs who were granted natural death and burial benefits,” BARMM Labor Minister Muslimin Sema said.

Each recipient received PHP90,000 in death benefits and an additional PHP30,000 for burial assistance, totaling PHP120,000 per beneficiary.

Sema also said 13 OBWs with work-related disabilities were given PHP50,000 for temporary disability and PHP100,000 for permanent disability. The assistance is under the MOLE disability and dismemberment benefits program.

“The SBP, through the Overseas Workers Welfare Bureau, protects OBWs’ dignity, ensuring their sacrifices are recognized and no family is left behind in need,” he said. (PNA)
