Four major infrastructure projects are being looked into by the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone Authority (APECO) to encourage more investments into the freeport at the eastern seaboard of Luzon.

These projects are the proposed Casiguran International New Port, Casiguran International Airport, high-speed road network and a railway project, with the last two targeted to connect Central Luzon’s east and west economic zones, APECO President and Chief Executive Officer lawyer Gil Taway IV said in a media briefing Thursday.

Taway said they will meet with officials of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center on Friday this week to formally submit the proposal for the feasibility studies of the same projects.

Officials of APECO, South Korea-based Yooshin Engineering Corporation and Manila-based Lordsbridge Resources Corporation signed a memorandum of agreement on Oct. 28, 2026, to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed Casiguran International New Port.

Taway said APECO has received a letter from the Department of Finance supporting the construction of the port.

“Hopefully, when we meet them next week, this letter of support will suffice,” he said, referring to the scheduled meeting with Yooshin officials. “Hopefully, with the letter of support, we’ll be able to attract more private sector investors.”

The proposed port will be located in a 500-hectare area in the freeport in Casiguran, Aurora.

Taway said the area will be part of the industrial estate, which will be converted into an integrated port. (PNA)
