The Schools Division of Antique of the Department of Education (DepEd) will campaign for more armchairs for use by learners in the coming school year 2024-2025.

“We have a project, Building Achievers and Nurturing Greatness for Knowledge and Opportunities (BANGKO), we will launch during the Brigada Eskwela that seeks donations for armchairs in the different public schools in Antique,” Roselyn Abuela, the focal person for social mobilization and network division, said in an interview on Monday.

Data from the DepEd Antique Education Facilities Division showed the province has a shortage of 2,035 armchairs, especially in newly established integrated national high schools or far-flung areas.

“There are schools that have already old armchairs that needed to be replaced also,” Abuela said.

Abuela said those willing to donate may coordinate with their division or proceed directly to the school heads.

During the maintenance week set for July 22 to 27, there will be activities like repainting and repair of classrooms and cleanup of school premises.

The Brigada Eskwela, or the National Schools Maintenance Week before the official school opening on July 29, will ensure schools are clean, disaster-prepared, and conducive to learning. (PNA)
