Teachers from a school district in the United States spoke in front of a Filipino audience to praise Filipino teachers who have been working with them as well as encourage potential Filipinos who would like to teach in America.

“We’ve been working with over approximately 120 Filipino teachers who have come to us already, and we’ve gotten to know you, embrace you, and love you. We’re honored and blessed to get a beautiful tour of your gorgeous country yesterday, so thank you for coming and salamat, ” one of the teachers stated in a Facebook reel posted by Jairah, a Filipino living and working as a teacher in the US.

Many netizens expressed their appreciation for the teachers in the video and shared their experiences as teachers in the US.

“I’m a special education paraeducator here in the USA. So far so good. I am the only Filipino teacher in our school but the advantage is you learn how to speak more and improve your English better,” one netizen commented.

“I don’t see any negativity with our teachers embarking for a greener pasture as long as they keep their Filipino values and culture on the foreign land,“ another stated.

“Not only nurses, but Filipino teachers are in demand now here in the US. You should be a strong willed teacher to overcome the culture demands. Good luck to you all!” one of the commenters expressed.

Teachers from the Philippines who would like to try their luck in the US are required to obtain a J-1 visa, also known as the Exchange Visitor Visa or J student visa. This visa will grant them to take part in study- and work-related programs in America.

A former J-1 teacher shared her experience in teaching in the US, “I got my J-1 waiver and green card through my US citizen spouse. There will be more opportunities if you are a green card holder and not just restricted to teaching.”
