Sentiments flood the iconic ABS-CBN news program “TV Patrol” as it kicked off its broadcasts on the Manny Villar-owned ALLTV channel, along with several other Kapamilya shows that will also make a comeback on free-to-air Channel 2 starting May 13.

The announcement came after the media’s conglomerate executives and AMBS, operator of ALLTV, partnered in a contract signing at the Brittany Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on April 23.

Supporters of ABS-CBN expressed divided opinions and reactions as some agreed and still expressed their support while others did not support this collaboration as the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) directed for the network to shutdown during the time of pandemic. AMBS acquired the broadcast frequency in January of 2022.

Carlo Katigbak acknowledged sentiments and was aware of certain opinions of some Kapamilya, but still hoped for them in making this a reminder to “put the past behind” in order to concentrate on attending to the needs of the public.

Katigbak expressed a sense of sentimentality as they announced the return of their longstanding programs to Channel 2. Acknowledging that some might experience mixed emotions about this return to their former home, the speaker urged everyone to move past any lingering pain and focus on their core mission of serving the Filipino audience.

This shift back to Channel 2, once their familiar home, represents an opportunity to reconnect and strengthen their commitment to their viewers.

Both parties hoped for the opening of other collaborations in the future. Details about what shows will be broadcasted at ALLTV are yet to be announced.

At the event, notable executives included Manny Villar, chairman of the Villar group; Paolo Villar, president and CEO of Vista Land & Lifescapes; Camille Villar, House deputy speaker and president/CEO of All Value Holdings Corp.; Senator Mark Villar; Maribeth Tolentino, president of AMBS; Cecille Bernardo, CFO of AMBS.

ABS CBN was represented by Mark Lopez, chairman; Carlo Katigbak, CEO and president; Cory Vidanes, COO; and Bobby Barreiro, CPO.
