ABS-CBN received 13 awards, including a special award for the popular tandem of Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, at the Philippine Movie Press Club’s (PMPC) 38th Star Awards for Television.
“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” the country’s leading primetime TV show, won the Best Primetime TV Series award.
Kim Chiu nabbed the Best Drama Actress award for “Linlang” as well as the Female Star of the Night award, while Piolo Pascual took home the Best Drama Actor trophy for “Pamilya Sagrado” and the Male Star of the Night award.
Meanwhile, Janine Gutierrez won the Best Drama Supporting Actress for “Lavender Fields” and Female Celebrity of the Night honors.
The top-rating noontime show, “It’s Showtime,” was recognized as the Best Variety Show, while Anne Curtis took home the Best Female Host award.
Veteran broadcast journalist Noli de Castro was named Best Male Newscaster for “TV Patrol.”
Fyang Smith, “Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11” big winner, received the Best New Female TV Personality award, while hosts Alexa Ilacad, Bianca Gonzalez, Enchong Dee, Kim Chiu, Melai Cantiveros, and Robi Domingo were honored with the Best Reality Show Host award.
Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino were also honored with the German Moreno Power Tandem award for their exceptional on-screen chemistry and for being one of the country’s most in-demand love teams.
Established in 1987, the Star Awards for Television is PMPC’s annual awarding ceremony, which recognizes outstanding programs and personalities in the country.
