The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Social Security System (SSS) have partnered to encourage Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Ilocos Region to be a member of the state insurer and avail of benefits through the AlkanSSSya Program.

Project Development Office 4Ps Division Chief of DSWD Ilocos Region Field Office, Rosalyn Descallar, in an interview on Wednesday, said that under the program, 4Ps members who are part of an organized group of beneficiaries will keep a small amount daily to complete the minimum monthly contribution amounting to PHP760.

A designated individual from their group will collect the amount that will be paid to SSS every end of the month, she said adding this would ensure the continuity of their monthly contribution but would not be a burden to them.

“By being a member of AlkanSSSya Program, the beneficiaries will be able to receive the benefits of an SSS member in times of need such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death benefits, and others,” Descallar said.

She clarified that the members who would volunteer to join the AlkanSSSya program are not allowed to use the conditional cash grant they are receiving monthly to pay the contribution.

Descallar said 114 4Ps beneficiaries in the region have volunteered for the pilot implementation of the program.

She said the program is being introduced to 4Ps beneficiaries during family development sessions. (PNA)
