The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has raised its alert status for Undas 2026, as it expects up to 2 million passengers to travel by sea during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

In a radio interview over DZBB on Tuesday, PCG Spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said all 17 Coast Guard Districts have been directed to intensify maritime safety and security operations under Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2026, which will run from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, 2026.

“The PCG Command Center monitored 1.5 million passengers amid Undas 2025. This year, we anticipate 1.5 million to 2 million passengers to travel by sea during the same period,” she said.

The operation will cover major seaports, waterways, beach resorts, and other maritime tourist destinations that will experience increased passenger and tourist activities.

PCG personnel will conduct comprehensive vessel safety and security inspections to prevent overloading, as well as maritime patrols to address potential public safety threats.

Coast Guard districts have also been directed to organize deployable response groups and medical teams for maritime emergencies. Personnel will likewise augment the Department of Transportation’s Malasakit Help Desks, where passengers can report concerns and file travel-related complaints.

The PCG is coordinating with the Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Maritime Industry Authority, and local government units to achieve a zero-casualty Undas 2026, anchored on the guidance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The agency reminded the public to comply with maritime safety regulations and immediately report suspicious baggage or individuals to authorities. (PNA)
