For Spring–Summer 2027, Wild Rose & Sparrow presents Proserpine.

Set against the Gallo-Roman ruins of the Musée de Cluny, co-designers Liana and Ariana Dancu explore the myth of Persephone and its enduring themes of beauty, rebirth and the wilderness of hope.

PAGEONE Media followed the presentation in Paris as part of its Spring/Summer 2027 fashion coverage, where the historic setting became inseparable from the story unfolding through the clothes. Against centuries-old stone, Proserpine traced a passage from darkness toward renewal, allowing the collection’s handwork, weathered romanticism and increasingly weightless silhouettes to echo the same ideas of endurance and transformation embedded in its surroundings.

Following Persephone’s journey between worlds, the collection begins in darkness. Black laces emerge alongside deep wheat and bronze macramé, grounding romantic silhouettes in earthen shades. Organic adornments run throughout the collection: fabrics gather, unfurl and trail, with hand-worked details reminiscent of roots and vines, evoking the darker side of life. The collection reflects an enduring devotion to renewal, growth and softness.

As the collection moves towards light, its palette begins to soften. Deep creams adorned with distressed silk florals, hand-crocheted embellishments and woven ribbons give way to softer shades. Petal pinks and pale greens, like whispers of budding shoots, appear with the tenderness of something newly returned to life.

Craft remains deliberately tactile. Lace, crochet, macramé and weathered florals meet increasingly ethereal fabrics; cottons give way to glimmering sequined tulle, like dew on spring grass. The collection assumes an increasingly seraphic character, becoming lighter, more diaphanous, suspended between worlds: half ghost, half hope.

Yet this beauty carries traces of the world it has passed through. Softness is weathered rather than immaculate; romance exists alongside melancholy, while resilience allows growth to emerge from what came before.

Against the time-worn stone of Cluny’s Gallo-Roman ruins, the collection’s intricate handwork, unraveled florals and organic forms enter into dialogue with a site that has itself endured centuries of transformation, rediscovery and renewal.

Proserpine is an ode to return: to the perennial instinct to begin again, and to the enduring beauty of hope after winter.
