The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has lined up a series of activities to strengthen partnerships as it joins the observance of the 31st Police-Community Relations Month.

Anchored on the theme, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Ugnayang Pulis at Mamamayan: Tapat, Maasahan, at Nararamdaman ng Bayan,” this year’s celebration highlights the Philippine National Police’s continuing commitment to promote shared responsibility in maintaining peace, order and public safety.

PRO-5 chief Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda said the celebration reminds police officers to remain committed to delivering quality public service with integrity and compassion.

“With this celebration, we are reminded to continuously uphold serbisyong mabilis, tapat at nararamdaman (service that is fast, sincere and felt), ensuring that every action we take reflects our unwavering commitment to integrity, excellence, and genuine public service,” Miranda said.

“Through our dedication and strong partnership with the community, we strengthen public trust and reaffirm our shared responsibility in maintaining peace, order and public safety.”

Among the highlights of this year’s observance is “Salamat, Kapatid – Gawad ng Pagkilala sa mga Katuwang sa Barangay,” through which PRO-5 will recognize village force multipliers and community partners every Monday for their contributions to peace, public safety and community development.

Throughout the month, PRO-5, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) and partner agencies, will conduct activities aimed at enhancing community engagement and advancing public safety initiatives.

These include intensified national crime prevention programs, community outreach activities, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams skills enhancement training, and Ugnayan sa Barangay (linkage with communities).

Other activities are “Pulis Kong Bida: Good Deeds, Great Impact” social media contest; One-Stop Information Shop; Gender and Child Sensitivity and Special Laws Training for PNP personnel; the CSOP (Community and Service-Oriented Policing) Training Series on Foundations of Public Safety and Service Delivery seminars by Napolcom provincial officers; student crime prevention seminars; engagements with Parents-Teachers Community Associations; school-based lectures and simulation exercises; and selection of Best Community- and Service-Oriented Policing System Project.

Celebrated every July, the Police-Community Relations Month is observed pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 764. The annual celebration promotes the principle that peace and security can only be achieved through the active participation of all sectors of society. (PNA)
