The provincial government has launched “Pamatron: Samar Fiesta Experience,” a tourism program that immerses visitors in the province’s fiesta celebrations and cultural traditions.

The launch was held in Matuguinao during the town’s fiesta on Tuesday, chosen as one of the pilot areas for the initiative.

The tour package allows guests to experience traditional food preparation, church activities, and local hospitality, according to Department of Tourism Regional Director Karina Rosa Tiopes.

“Visitors who come here can see that the ‘Pamatron’ in Samar is truly a unique experience,” Tiopes said.

Matuguinao Mayor Aran Boller assured visitors that the town is safe despite its previous insurgency-related reputation.

“Now we are being recognized positively, and so far nothing bad has happened to visitors coming to Matuguinao,” Boller said.

The “Pamatron” experience combines cultural immersion with eco-tourism, including visits to cold springs, caves, and waterfalls, plus community activities such as parades and traditional dances.

Following the launch in Matuguinao, the same event is scheduled for Calbiga town from May 23 to 26. (PNA)
