The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique is set to launch Project “ORCHIDS” or Outreach for Restoration of Character, Holistic Intervention and Domestic Support to promote values education among learners and strengthen their family support.

DepEd Antique Values Restoration Officer Rizalina Sebuan said in an interview on Wednesday that the initiative is in support of their Kaagapay Program, which institutionalizes a strengthened partnership among schools, families, and communities for the holistic development and well-being of learners.

“The project aims to promote the shared responsibility among schools, families, and communities in values education,” she said.

She said that the project will encourage parents to attend family development sessions as part of their Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings, where they can discuss the behavioral, emotional, and social needs of their children.

There is also a topic on mental health to form a positive behavior as well as strengthen the family support system.

“DepEd believes that a strengthened family support system is essential to the learners’ academic and socio-emotional development, which is why we are forging a strong partnership with the parents,” Sebuan said.

She said the launching at the Antique National School (ANS) in San Jose de Buenavista on April 25 is expected to gather local officials, including San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Paul Joseph Untaran, school guidance councilors, and other stakeholders. (PNA)
