The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) spent over PHP200,000 in 2025 through its Pag-abot Program to assist former street dwellers, data showed Tuesday.

The program distributed PHP99,000 in transitory shelter aid and PHP195,000 in livelihood assistance to six beneficiaries from Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Davao de Oro in December alone.

DSWD-11 said the assistance is tailored to individual needs after thorough assessment, aiming to provide a foundation for more stable lives and restore dignity.

“Through the Pag-Abot Program, caring services are continuously delivered to those most in need, at the right time and in the right manner,” the agency said in a news release.

Separately, the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program provided capital assistance to more than 17,000 individuals in 2025 and conducted 1,622 capacity-building activities benefiting over 45,000 people in the region. (PNA)
