The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already delivered family food packs requested by two local government units (LGUs) in Antique on Tuesday.

DSWD Antique Provincial Link and in-charge of the relief operation, Jeffrey Gabucay, said in an interview that they have already delivered 1,037 family food packs requested by the municipalities of Barbaza and San Remigio.

“The family food packs are part of the 17,350 that we have already prepositioned in the different municipalities in Antique,” he said.

He said prior to Typhoon Tino, the DSWD prepositioned family food packs to 11 LGUs, including Barbaza and San Remigio in Antique, which have entered into an agreement with the agency.

Under the pact, the LGU agrees to take care of the family food packs for safekeeping and to be ready for use in case of a disaster.

“Other LGUs could also request family food packs that they would need for their typhoon-affected constituents,” Gabucay said.

Other relief goods for affected families were provided by the provincial government and the offices of Senator Loren Legarda and Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda.

Meanwhile, 98 schools in the province are being used as evacuation centers, accommodating 3,135 families or 9,486 individuals. (PNA)
