The city government on Monday turned over six brand new units of patrol vehicles to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

The police vehicles comprised the first batch of the 12 patrol cars committed by the local government, aligned with the “Buy 1, Give 1″ initiative of Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla.

“We will give six more units to further enhance the capacity of our police,” Mayor Raisa Treñas said during the turnover ceremony.

She said the vehicles were purchased using the city’s peace and order fund, amounting to PHP9.7 million.

“This is very timely because next year, Iloilo City will host the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit,” she added.

ICPO Director Col. Kim Legada, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the city government for the support, stressing that the additional patrol vehicles will greatly enhance ICPO’s capacity to serve the Ilonggo community and strengthen its security preparedness.

“These new patrol vehicles are more than just assets; they represent the trust of the people of Iloilo City through the support of our local government. Rest assured, ICPO will use them to ensure peace, safety, and security for all,” Legada said.

The vehicles will be assigned to Iloilo City Police Stations (ICPS) 10 with two units, and one unit each for ICPS1, ICPS3, ICPS6, and ICPS7. (PNA)
