The Department of Health (DOH)–Central Luzon Center for Health Development has launched immediate medical response operations in evacuation centers across the region to address the needs of those affected by Super Typhoon Nando.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the DOH said the initiative was in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to attend to the typhoon victims’ needs.

The agency reported that a total of 305 families, or 915 individuals, are currently housed in evacuation centers in Central Luzon.

Health services provided include consultations and regular monitoring, particularly for children and senior citizens, as well as the distribution of free medicines to evacuees.

Meanwhile, the DOH-Cagayan Valley Medical Center said it remained alert and open to provide medical services to affected individuals in the region.

The DOH reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of displaced families.

It also warned against dangers of landslide and floodwaters.

People are advised to evacuate to high and safe places and not to walk or swim in floodwaters to avoid drowning and acquiring leptospirosis. (PNA)
