The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has activated teams to ensure quicker coordination and resource deployment in preparation for the potential impact of Super Typhoon Nando (international name Ragasa).

A total of 251 personnel are on standby, including 182 members of the reactionary standby support force and 69 from the search and rescue team, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. said.

He ordered unit commanders to prepare the logistical resources and equipment necessary for typhoon operations.

Contingency measures have been put in place, including the provision of medical teams and relief supplies for PNP personnel.

“From preemptive evacuation to search and rescue, your PNP will exert every effort to minimize the impact of Nando on the lives of our fellow citizens,” he said.

He urged the public to be prepared and heed advisories to avoid casualties. (PNA)
