The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Negros Oriental is gearing up for the 2025 National Demographic and Health Survey, which is set to begin in October, an official said Thursday.

“The survey aims to determine the health issues and other concerns of women, specifically aged 15-49 who are of childbearing age, and will be a basis for national agencies and authorities to address these,” said engineer Ariel Fortuito, Chief Statistical Specialist and Provincial Head of the PSA-Negros Oriental.

In an interview, Fortuito told the Philippine News Agency that they are currently hiring enumerators and other contract of service individuals for the survey. They will undergo training this month before the Oct. 13 to Nov. 29 enumeration period.

Fortuito said 393 sample households will be covered by the survey to collect data on women’s and maternal health, fertility, and family planning. He added that the enumerators will all be women, as the survey will gather sensitive information.

Confidentiality is assured for respondents to the survey, which is being conducted in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund. (PNA)
