First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos met with top business leaders and top doctors from India, in an effort to bring hope for young Filipinos in need of liver transplants, Malacañang said on Friday.

The meeting, held at the FL Office in Manila on Aug. 26, centered on Marcos’ plan to give Filipino youth better access to healthcare services and affordable medicines, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing on Friday.

“Sa hangaring mabigyan ng pangalawang pagkakataon sa buhay ang mga kabataang nangangailangan ng liver transplant, nakipagpulong si First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos sa mga negosyante at (In a bid to give young people in need of liver transplants a second chance at life, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos met with businessmen and) top doctors from India,” Castro said.

“Ayon sa First Lady, ang pakikinig sa mga hinaing ng taumbayan na napipilitang magpagamot sa ibang bansa na nagbibigay-inspirasyon sa kaniya upang dalhin ang pag-asa dito sa Pilipinas (According to the First Lady, listening to the grievances of the people forced to seek treatment abroad inspires her to bring hope to the Philippines).”

Araneta-Marcos, Castro said, emphasized that saving lives, making medication more affordable, and establishing medical services are her primary goals for the young Filipino patients who are in dire need.

The First Lady also expressed her gratitude to the Indian business leaders and medical professionals for their invaluable expertise.

Castro said Araneta-Marcos is optimistic that her vision for the Filipino youth’s health will soon be realized.

The meeting followed her recent visit to India with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier this month. (PNA)
