After much preparation and anticipation, the race is done, and you’ve reached the finish line. So, what’s next? Seasoned runners and health advocates will tell you that real victory isn’t just a one-and-done deal. Turn that runner’s high into progress and sustain greatness beyond race day by following these tips from your favorite wellness personalities.

1. Embrace the power of small actions

They say old habits die hard, and building new ones doesn’t happen overnight. For Sam YG, celebrity host and fitness enthusiast, consistency is key.

“I’m not saying it’s always a 10k run or a run for that matter. We’re all caught up with work and life, so it’s actually the small things you decide to do every day that will help you develop the habit,” he explained, adding, “There will be days where it’s going to feel more challenging, but those will make you stronger and it’s gonna be life-changing.”

RWP Run Club founder and coach Pat Rubin shares the same sentiments and recommends creating a simple routine that works for you, which can be achieved by allotting personal time in the morning and spending less screentime.

“By staying consistent, we can also inspire others to do the same. It’s a way to unleash greatness within ourselves, while also spreading it to others,” he added.

2. Show up and look good

Looking good is one way to feel good and perform better. Take it from the Kapuso star Gabbi Garcia, who believes that showing up is already half the battle, but looking good doing it can make it twice as easy.

“I always make sure that I look good at the gym, so I really invest in flattering and comfortable gym clothes that make me feel good and function well at the same time,” she said.

This is your sign to get that workout set or that new pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing and start moving!

3. Focus on yourself

Everyone strives for self-improvement, yet comparison with others’ progress demotivates them, halting.

“Comparison is the thief of joy. It’s only you versus you. As long as you’re making progress and pushing yourself every day, you should be happy and content: content but not satisfied,” said fitness coach Enjay Aba.

Nutritionist Jo Sebastian echoes this, emphasizing that “Everyone has a different journey. If you compare, you’ll take away from your own success.”

4. Discover movement that you enjoy

Instead of forcing yourself into a dreary exercise program, why not spice up your routine? From low-intensity walks to a cooling swim, these fun outlets are how influencer moms Marga Banaga and Kath Figuracion are rocking fitness and parenting.

“Find a workout you enjoy and move your body in a way that you would look forward to, and start from there,” Marga said. In her weight loss journey, she paired dynamic workouts with meal prep that led her to lose 60 pounds in 11 months.

“I realized that it’s not only physical strength that I want to achieve but also mental and emotional health. That became my motivation. You have to find that within yourself,” said fellow mom Kath Figuracion.

These wellness and running enthusiasts are among over 9,000 participants who embraced the challenge of unleashing greatness at Run For Wellness 2025 held last June 22 at UP Diliman in Quezon City. Presented by Southstar Drug and Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, the annual event celebrates the journey of participants towards a healthier, more active lifestyle through running and beyond.

After crossing the finish line, you’re now ready to take your path to wellness to the next level. Keep the momentum alive one stride at a time because your greatest runs are still ahead.

The next leg of Run For Wellness is happening this September 14, 2025, in Naga City. Stay tuned on Southstar Drug’s social media pages for more details about the registration.
