The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will prioritize beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the Walang Gutom (Zero Hunger) program for its scholarship training in Antique.
TESDA-Antique Supervising Specialist Agnes Dimzon said in an interview on Friday that they have a PHP50 million allocation through the Office of Senator Loren Legarda for the implementation of the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) in July to December this year.
“Interested beneficiaries of 4Ps and Walang Gutom program in Antique are being given priority and may go to their respective local government units (LGUs) for them to avail of the STEP,” she said.
The training program will enable them to acquire skills that will provide them with a livelihood.
Available courses include welding, dressmaking, driving and masonry.
Other interested individuals may also apply with the TESDA provincial office or their accredited institutions in the province.
“Provided also under the STEP are the daily allowance of PHP160 for each trainee and a toolkit,” Dimzon said.
The toolkit will depend on the skill training in which they are enrolled. The duration of the training may vary from 17 to 32 days.
“There will also be a free competency assessment after the training so that the trainee can have a certification,” Dimzon said. (PNA)
