Three remote schools in Indigenous Peoples (IPs) communities in Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte have received computers and sound systems from the provincial government over the weekend.

Las Nieves Mayor Karen Rosales handed over the equipment to the recipient schools on Aug. 2, and she also met with the parents of the students and school officials.

“Most of the students and young learners from these schools are IPs from the different communities in the Bokbokon area,” Las Nieves information officer Michael Mandahinog said in an interview Monday.

Mayor Rosales personally thanked Governor Maria Angelica Rosedell Amante for supplying schools with essential equipment to improve education quality among young learners in Bokbokon, he added.

The Bokbokon Elementary School received a refrigerator from the provincial government. Its annex school in Sitio Salaming received two desktop computers, a printer, two laptops, two television sets, and a sound system. The Bokbokon Day Care Center was also provided with three sound systems and two water dispensers.

“This educational support will help our teachers mold the future of our children through proper education,” Rosales said in a separate statement Monday, adding that the town government also supports its schools to ensure quality education for young learners. (PNA)
