President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has expressed satisfaction over the results of the May 12 senatorial elections, Malacañang said on Wednesday.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos remains confident of high public support, in light of the results of the midterm polls.

Castro stressed that while only six of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ senatorial candidates made it to the so-called “Magic 12,” Marcos believes that some of the presumptive senators from other political parties also have good principles.

The President is satisfied because he learned that some of those who were voted by the people have their own dignity and own beliefs. And majority of them are for the people and not for other country),” she said.

Tandaan po natin, ang kahuli-hulihan pong survey ay nagpapakita po ng mataas na trust rating po ng Pangulo (The President still believes that the people still have massive support for the current administration. Let’s remember, the latest survey shows the President’s high trust rating),” Castro added.

Castro also belied the opposition’s statements that the results of the Senate race is a “repudiation of the Marcos administration and its relentless campaign to ‘persecute’ the Duterte family”.

The people are the ones who judge, the people are the ones who voted. Let’s respect the choices of our countrymen. This is not a reflection of anything that is said about the Dutertes),” she said.

She also dismissed insinuations that Marcos is hopeful of the full victory of the Alyansa’s Senate slate to realize the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

She said the elected officials are expected to support the projects and programs of the Marcos administration and not to pursue their personal interests.

No matter what color it is, the newly elected officials should think that they will work for the country, for the people, not for personal interests or the interests of their friends or the people they are promoting),” Castro said.
