Renewable energy firm Alternergy Holdings Corp. has partnered with Quezon 1 Electric Cooperative Inc. (Quezelco 1) to dispatch clean power from Alternergy’s Alabat wind power.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange Wednesday, Alternergy said it signed the cooperation agreement with Quezelco 1 to facilitate the dispatch from the power farm to the Luzon grid.

Through the deal, the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the electric cooperative can now be executed.

“Our cooperation with Quezelco 1 is very crucial to ensure that the renewable supply from the Alabat Wind Farm Project will be transported and delivered to the main grid within the timeline we have committed under the Green Energy Auction 2 (GEA 2) Program,” AWPC president Knud Hedeager said.

Under the MOA, Alabat Wind Power Corp. (AWPC) will build and commission a 37-kilometer 69kV transmission line from Alabat Wind Power Farm to the Hongdugua Substation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Quezelco 1, on the other hand, will build a 10-MVA substation and facilitate in securing the right-of-way for the proposed transmission line for Alternergy.

“Transmission connection is one of the most difficult tasks for any power project. We are pleased to be working hand-in-hand with Quezelco 1,” Hedeager added.

Last October, the Alabat Wind Power Farm got the greenlight from the Quezon Provincial Development Council.

In the same month, Alternergy infused an additional PHP80 million from its initial public offering proceeds to the Alabat wind project.

In a previous statement, Alternergy said construction of its wind farm projects in Alabat and Tanay will begin by the first quarter of 2025, following the specific timeline under the GEA 2.

“We are working at a very tight timeline and are very delighted by the support from Quezelco 1 and earlier from the local government of Quezon and Quezelco 1 to ensure that we achieve this,” Hedeaer said. (PNA)
