At least 544 athletes and 70 officials will participate in the three-day regional Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games from April 13 to 14 in this city.

Dr. Cecile Atilano, city sports officer, said Wednesday it is “all systems go” for the regional PRISAA as this city is ready to welcome the delegations and teams from the participating local government units in the region.

“The arriving delegations are from the cities of Pagadian and Dipolog,” Atilano said.

The Pagadian and Dipolog delegations consist of 217 and 126 athletes, respectively. The Zamboanga City delegation, on the other hand, consists of 201 athletes.

Atilano said that Basilan province is not joining the event due to the observance of the monthlong Ramadan.

This year’s regional PRISAA competitions will include basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, football, sepak takraw, volleyball, athletics, badminton, chess, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, vocal solo and duet, and dance sport.

Atilano said the three-day athletic event will kick off Thursday with football, vocal solo, vocal duet and dance sports.

The Joaquin F. Enriquez Jr. Memorial Sports Complex, along with select schools and facilities, will serve as the venue for the various sports competitions.

Entrance to the games is free of charge.

The regional PRISAA will serve as preparation for the upcoming national PRISAA Games which will also be hosted by the city in July this year. (PNA)
