The Davao del Norte provincial government has rolled out another batch of food assistance to flood and fire victims in various towns of the province, according to Governor Edwin Jubahib on Friday.

“This is an additional from the previous assistance that we gave them,” Jubahib said in a Facebook post.

Some 27,516 food packs will be distributed to the families affected by the shear line and low-pressure area (LPA) in the province that commenced Thursday until April 1, the governor said.

Ten barangays in Asuncion town were the first to receive around 7,467 food packs. At least 48 barangays more are set to receive assistance in the towns of Kapalong, New Corella, Carmen, Santo Tomas, and Tagum City, Jubahib said.

Meanwhile, Jubahib also led the distribution of assistance to some 19 fire victims, mostly renters, in Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City.

The victims of the February fire incident received PHP3,500 each from the emergency shelter assistance of the province.

Fire victim, Christopher Mascariñas said the provincial government’s action was a big help in their time of difficulty.

“Despite our situation, they assured us of assistance and vowed that they won’t turn their backs on us,” he said.

Aside from food, the provincial social welfare office also provided clothes and kitchen wares to the fire victims. (PNA)
