Local leaders in Surigao del Norte have given their endorsement to a game application called Siargao Flora & Fauna Puzzle is already available on Google Play.

The game app highlights the flora and fauna of Siargao Island, providing children with a fun, safe and educational tool to learn about the island’s natural species.

Developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Research Council of the Philippines (NCRP), Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II of the 1st District of Surigao del Norte has called on parents to download the game app.

“For parents who are looking for a fun, safe, and educational game app for their kids, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) offers an offline game app about Siargao’s flora and fauna,” Matugas said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Through this game app, children will learn about the flora and fauna species found in Siargao Island,” he added.

The app is based on the results of research, assessment, inventory, and a biological field survey of the Mangrove Forest in Del Carmen, Siargao Island.

The NCRP funded the research and assessment, which was conducted by a group of environmental researchers led by Dr. Cecilia Banag-Moran, a member of the NCRP Division of Biological Services.

“Let us explore Siargao Island through this game app, especially for our children, and learn more about the types of plants and animals that continue to thrive in Siargao’s rich biodiversity,” Matugas said. (PNA)
