The Department of Agrarian Reform in Bicol (DAR-5) has recently turned over motorized haulers worth PHP170,000 each to three agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in Camarines Norte province.

Geri Buensalida, DAR-5 spokesperson, said DAR-Camarines Norte facilitated the turnover of the haulers last week to the San Jose Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (SARA), San Pascual Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (SPARBO) and the Barangay Maisog Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (BMARBO).

“Farmers’ productivity and profitability will likely increase due to the PHP570,000 worth of motorized haulers provided. The units were distributed by DAR Provincial Office in Daet under the Sustainable Livelihood Support (SLS) for Disaster Affected Areas and the Expanded Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) programs,” Buensalida said in a message to the Philippine News Agency.

In a statement, Marilyn Francisco, BMARBO officer, said “Ang pagkakaroon namin ng hauler ay makakatulong upang hindi na kami mahirapan sa pagdadala ng aming mga produkto kung saan maganda ang presyo. Isa iyon sa lubos naming pinagpapasalamat. Napakalaking tulong nito para sa mga ARBs (agrarian reform beneficiaries) na katulad namin (This hauler will help us in transporting our products to the market, where we can sell them at good prices. That is one of the many things we are grateful for. This is a great help for ARBs like us).

BMARBO, a coconut-producing organization, is also one of the project sites for Sustainable Livelihood Support for Disaster-Affected Areas for 2023.

Francisco said they would also receive a startup kit that would allow them to establish a broiler production project. (PNA)
