Over two years since the pandemic started and forced most companies to adopt alternative work arrangements, Phoenix Petroleum has decided to retain the work-from-home set-up for a portion of its workforce nationwide until the end of 2022. The company shared that its employees have shown that they can effectively function without the need to regularly report in the office, and virtual engagements have proven to be more efficient.

“Based on the assessment of our leaders, and also taking into account the feedback of employees, it has been decided that work arrangements will remain the same until the end of this year,” said Phoenix Vice President for Human Resources Celeste Ong.

“We at Phoenix are glad to have a team that is adaptive and trustworthy. Our employees deserve to function in conditions where they can thrive, while maintaining work-life balance,” Ong added.

Applicable for knowledge-based employees who do not need to be in the office, the policy will be in place, and will be reassessed at the end of the year. Until then, employees have the freedom to work from home, but may also report to the office for important meetings as long as standard health and safety protocols are observed.

Since the announcement, the company expressed that employee reception has been positive. “My team and I are happy that we’re trusted by the company to be at our most productive, and we’re given the freedom to choose the best work set-up which we can thrive in,” said Cielo David, Talent Acquisition and Development Manager at Phoenix.

Earlier this year, the company announced that it would retain the same work arrangements until July 2022 despite the easing of restrictions, citing safety and employee preference as basis. Phoenix was also one of the first companies to announce that it would allow its employees to work remotely in 2020 when the pandemic hit the country.
