The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office-Central Luzon (DSWD FO 3) has started prepositioning family food packs and non-food items as part of its disaster preparedness efforts.

The move was in compliance with the directive of DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo to prioritize the preparation of relief packs to ensure disaster preparedness in times of emergencies.

DSWD Regional Information Officer Reiner Gorospe said on Friday their agency is taking proactive stance to provide timely response to the victims of calamities this rainy season.

“This is to ensure that there are supplies which can be readily and easily accessed upon the occurrence of disasters, especially this rainy season,” Gorospe said in a radio interview.

At present, he said there are 19,800 family food packs and 4,066 non-food items that have been prepositioned at the agency’s regional and satellite warehouses in the region.

The non-food items consist of family kits, sleeping kits, and hygiene kits.

Other non-food items include mosquito nets, laminated sacks, plastic mats, modular tents, and kitchen utensils

Gorospe said the DSWD Regional Resource and Logistics Management Section is preparing to put up additional racks at warehouses for space maximization. (PNA)
