The city government of Laoag is expecting more walk-ins in its mega vaccination sites, particularly those who wish to get booster shots against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

With a total of 698 individuals, who were vaccinated on Feb. 9 at the Divine Word College of Laoag (DWCL) and the Laoag City General Hospital (LCGH) vaccination sites, the city government is again inviting more walk-ins on Friday (Feb. 11) for a booster dose.

To ensure the smooth flow of the vaccination process, the next available date for booster shot walk-ins has been set on Friday at the LCGH for Barangays 51A-56A at 8 a.m., Barangays 56B-62B at 9:30 am, and at the DWCL for Barangays 33A-41 at 9:30 am and Barangays 42-50 at 11 a.m.

Jiwani R. Silva, coordinator of the City Vaccination Operations Center reiterated on Thursday that “walk-ins can avail the booster shot only at least after three months from the administration of the second dose.”

She also added that residents who want to have their booster shots should bring valid identification cards and their vaccination cards.

Latest vaccination update from the Ilocos Norte government shows that 97 percent or 418,501 of the 431,801 target population are now fully vaccinated as of February 4.

All local government units here continue to expand their immunization program, which is now prioritizing local industry workers, students, and children of eligible age.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated residents are strongly encouraged to register at their respective local health offices to secure a vaccination schedule. (PNA)
