Antique is targeting to inoculate 69,336 individuals in the second round of the national coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination on December 15-17.

Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Nurse 4 Sheree Vego said they intend to vaccinate the general population who are yet to avail of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

“We encourage everyone who is qualified to have themselves vaccinated,” she said in an interview Monday.

Vego said each of the 18 municipalities in the province is targeting to inoculate at least 1,284 individuals per day to achieve their goal.

The mayors volunteered to provide transportation for those going to identified vaccination sites such as municipal gymnasiums or schools.

“We have enough Covid-19 vaccines for the campaign,” she said.

Vego said the IPHO has about 160,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines composed of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna brands.

The vaccines to be used are composed of remaining doses from the first national vaccination and regular allocations from the Department of Health.

Vego said they will be prioritizing those who have yet to avail of their first dose to reach the 70-percent target population before the end of the year.

She said Antique has now reached 55-percent of their Covid-19 target, which is equivalent to 236,162 vaccinated individuals.

“Once we are able to vaccinate the more than 69,000 target during the second national vaccination campaign, Antique could already reach 71-percent accomplishment or the herd immunity,” she added.

Vego said if ever their target will not be realized, the IPHO and other municipal health personnel will continue to conduct mobile vaccination in the barangays. (PNA)
