The bed occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients in Manila significantly dropped to just 13 percent with only 65 occupied beds in the city’s six district hospitals as of Dec. 7.

The data reflects a 56 percent drop compared to the 23 percent bed occupancy rate with 116 occupied beds on Nov. 7.

The city’s Covid-19 field hospital in Quirino Grandstand has now only 12 occupied beds or only 3 percent of the 344 available beds, reflecting a 25 percent decrease in its occupancy rate a month ago.

Manila’s 14 Covid-19 quarantine facilities currently have a zero percent occupancy rate.

The city’s six district hospitals include the Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Jose Abad Santos General Hospital, Gat Andres, Ospital ng Tondo, and Sta. Ana Hospital.

On Tuesday, the capital city recorded 96 Covid-19 active cases after reporting 12 new cases.

The area of Sampaloc in District 4 logged the most number with 14 active cases, followed by the Sta. Cruz area with 13.

Seven new recoveries were reported bringing the total number of recoveries to 88,544.

The total number of persons who have succumbed to the disease is 1,723 with zero new deaths reported.

Meanwhile, the city continues to ramp up its vaccination drive assigning more accessible vaccination sites within the community.

As of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the city government has already administered a total of 2,919,399 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, including 1,399,246 used as second dose.

A total of 164,743 minors aged 12 to 17 years old with or without comorbidities have been vaccinated in the city with 57,884 already fully vaccinated.

A total of 56,552 Covid-19 booster shots have been administered in the city as of Tuesday. (PNA)
