The Philippines has administered 81,296,947 doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with full protection for 35,678,774 Filipinos as of Monday.

Based on the latest data from the national Covid-19 vaccination dashboard, a total of 188,084 booster shots and additional doses have also been given to health care workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and immunocompromised individuals (A3).

The current average daily vaccination rate stands at 813,734 doses.

The government also started the three-day “Bayanihanan, Bakunahan” vaccination drive on Monday in all 17 regions nationwide, with the aim to inoculate at least 9 million.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief, said about 8,000 vaccination sites will be used.

In a statement, the NTF said the initiative aims to proactively mobilize “all the stakeholders, the people, and the government’s logistics” to facilitate the administration of 3 million doses daily.

A second leg will be conducted from Dec. 15 to 17.

“More or less, 61 million doses naman ang ating stockpile. So ibig sabihin (We have more or less 62 million doses in our stockpile. So that means), we have more than enough vaccines for the booster shots, without losing our focus for our A1, A2, and A3 categories,” Galvez added.

The government is targeting to fully inoculate at least 54 million Filipinos, complete the provision of booster shots for health care workers, and pediatric vaccination for the 12-17 age group by the end of December.

The 77 million goal for population protection is eyed for completion by the first quarter of 2022.

The Philippines has so far received 142,153,340 Covid-19 doses, both procured and donations, from various pharmaceutical companies.

Negotiations for about 90 million doses supply for next year are underway. (PNA)
