Healthcare workers and other authorized persons outside of residence (APORs) can now enjoy free rides in modern jeepneys in 10 routes across the National Capital Region (NCR) under the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) “Libreng Sakay (free ride)” program.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the LTFRB said the Libreng Sakay, funded under the service contracting program (SCP), so far includes eight transportation companies/cooperatives that operate within these routes.

These include the DCM Corporation with the Parang–Cubao and SSS Village–Cubao routes; Basicano Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Coop) with Bagong Silang–SM Fairview; San Juan Rosario Transport Service Coop with Rosario JCT–San Juan via Pinaglabanan; and ESakay Inc. with EDSA Buendia–Mandaluyong City Hall via Jupiter, Rockwell.

Others are the Pandacan Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Coop with Pandacan–L. Guinto route; Novaliches-Balintawak-Blumentritt Transport Coop with Novaliches–Rizal Ave. via A. Bonifacio; Mandaluyong Transport Service Coop with Boni Pinatubo–Stop & Shop, vice versa and Boni (Robinson’s Complex)–Kalentong/JRC, vice versa routes; and Libra Jeepney Operator Transport Coop with Punta–Quiapo via Sta. Mesa.

“Hinihikayat ang iba pang mga operator na sumali sa programa at makipag-ugnayan sa LTFRB-NCR Project Implementation Unit (PIU) sa (We encourage other operators to join the program and reach out to the LTRB-NCR PIU at) Tel. 8929-6789 / 8926-6346 / 8925-7366 / 8925-7367 loc. 210 o mag e-mail sa (or email at) piu.ncr@gmail.com,” the LTFRB said.

The Libreng Sakay officially began on Monday, a few days after the SCP was relaunched by the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation on Friday under the General Appropriations Act of 2021.

Under the SCP, drivers and operators who have joined the program will receive cash incentives based on the number of trips they have completed each week, whether they have a passenger or not. (PNA)
